This Week on the Ridge

We had a successful bus evacuation drill this week and enjoyed two excellent concerts featuring Bart Weisman and Vento Chiaro! Excitement is building for our Fun Run, so be sure to read below for important information and fundraiser updates.  This week, we began a special segment of our Friday announcements called "Courtesy Corner."  This week's focus was saying hello and greeting an adult in the hallway, in the stairwell, when walking into school, etc. We encourage families to continue the conversation about this Courtesy Corner segment at home with your student.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Reminders & Updates

Tattoo a Staff Member

Fun Run Fundraising Incentive: Tattoo a Staff Member! As we continue building excitement and support for our Fun Run fundraising efforts, we’re introducing a fun incentive to celebrate our top fundraisers! Next Friday, the 10 students in each grade who have raised the most money will each have the opportunity to select a staff member to receive a temporary tattoo. Thank you to our staff members who are willing to participate and help make this a memorable and fun way to support our school! Families, keep up the great fundraising work, and stay tuned for the big reveal!

PTA News

Fun Run Update!
We're officially in the thick of Fun Run season! In just 2 weeks Oak Ridge students will take to the track.

The Oak Ridge Fun Run is on Friday, October 30, 2026 - During the school day. Your students will be running with their entire grade.  Below are the run times:

Grade 3: 8:45- 9:20
Grade 5: 9:45-10:25
Grade 6: 12-12:35
Grade 4: 1:10-1:45

Want to volunteer during your students' run time?  We're happy to have you sign up for a slot!

But the fun isn't saved up for Fun Run day, students have been earning incentives through registration, fundraising, classroom participation, grade-level totals, and school-wide milestones. Including "Pong For Prizes", Popsicle Picnics, and Extra Recess For All! There are more incentives to come including "Rock the Lunchroom" which we are less than 10K away from!  When we reach $65k in collective donations the entire school will have music played in the cafeteria for lunch! It's going to be fun!

Remember we're running toward $95,000 to support opportunities such as those that the PTA funded last school year. Here are some of the ways the PTA has supported Oak Ridge students: field trips for each grade, the 6th grade step up, engineering supplies for our art room, new soccer nets, soccer balls, basketballs, and a rolling art cart for more fun during recess, plus restocking of the building's student hygiene cart. These are just a few ways our school has used PTA funds.

  • Have you registered and shared your student's fundraising page yet? If not, there's still time to get moving before this fundraiser ends! Register or access your FundHub account. https://www.getmovinfundhub.com/ School Code: 66d85e767e2e9

Startup Capital Fundraiser: T-Shirt Sale
To help generate startup funds to stock our inventory, our PTA has generously donated Sandwich "Proud to be Blue" T-shirts for us to sell.
  • When: Wednesday, October 21st & Thursday, October 22nd
  • Where: During student lunchtimes near the MPR
  • Price: $5 cash per t-shirt

100% of profits from this sale will go directly toward our startup costs to purchase practical, affordable school supplies—such as pencils, erasers, and small notebooks—for our grand opening inventory.

Looking Ahead
Our 6th-grade student staff will handle every aspect of store operations, from running the cash register and customer service to inventory management and marketing. Following next week's t-shirt sale, students will focus on preparing for our official Grand Opening in late November.
Keep an eye out for more details and updates coming soon on ParentSquare!
