On Friday, October 9th, Forestdale students and families participated in Walk, Ride, and Roll to School Day, sponsored by Sandwich Recreation and supported by the Sandwich Police and Fire Departments.
Students and families gathered at the Oak Crest Cove beach parking lot and made their way to Forestdale School along a ½-mile route by walking, biking, rollerblading, and riding scooters. The event provided students with an active and positive start to their school day while bringing families and our community together.
Beginning the morning with physical activity helped students arrive at school energized, engaged, and ready to learn. Beyond the physical benefits, the event reinforced the importance of healthy choices, independence, and community connection.
A special thank-you to Sandwich Recreation, Sandwich Police, and Sandwich Fire for helping make this event possible and for supporting the safety of our students and families. We look forward to bringing everyone together again for another Walk, Ride, and Roll event this spring! Click the link to enjoy the various photos: Walk, Ride,& Roll to school 2026

On Monday, October 5th, our morning movement program BOKS returned for 1st and 2nd grade students.
BOKS (Build Our Kids' Success) is a physical activity program that helps students start their day active, energized, and ready to learn. It runs 2 days per week from 8:00 am-8:45 am Monday-Thursday (Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday).
Session 2 will begin in January, and we are excited to expand the program by inviting our kindergarten students to participate. This will provide even more students with an opportunity to build healthy habits, increase physical activity, and start their school day energized and ready to learn.

A big thank-you to the Sandwich Elementary PTA and our Forestdale nurses, Crista Nardone and Liz Lopes, for helping make this long-awaited project a reality! Sunshades have now been installed over both the Preschool and K–2 playgrounds.
It has been a long time coming, but this investment will make a meaningful difference for our students, staff, and families. During the warmer months, our children will now have much-needed relief from the strong summer sun while playing, learning, and enjoying time together on the playgrounds. This is a wonderful addition to Forestdale and another step toward creating a safer, healthier, and more comfortable environment for our students.

If you have not yet received a link to sign up for a conference time, please be sure to contact your child’s teacher directly so that a time can be arranged.
All conferences will be held virtually, unless a family specifically requests an in-person conference. We look forward to connecting with families to discuss student progress, celebrate successes, and work together to support your child’s continued growth.
