Eye-to-Eye Leaders Attend National Summit

A diverse group of young people gather around a large table, smiling and holding up colorful paper crafts in a bright room.
Sandwich Middle High School seniors Cora Tedeschi and Addyson Curley participated in the 2026 Neurodiversity Leadership Summit, held August 6–9 in Denver, Colorado. The two student participated as student leaders of Eye to Eye, a national near-peer mentoring program that pairs high school and college students who are neurodivergent with younger students navigating similar learning and attention differences.

The Summit brought together an incredible group of students and recent graduates from across the country who are stepping into leadership roles with The Neurodiversity Alliance.

Cora and Addyson are wonderful examples of student leaders making a difference in our own school community. Through their work supporting and mentoring our middle schoolers, they demonstrate the power of inclusion, advocacy, and connection.

We are incredibly proud of the leadership they are showing at SMHS and beyond!

If you'd like to learn more about participating in SMHS's Eye-to-Eye Chapter, please reach out to Chapter Advisor, Michele Dunham at mdunham@sandwich.k12.ma.us.

2nd Graders Honor Flight Veterans

Forestdale 2nd graders recently put the school's “family of learners” values into action by writing heartfelt letters of thanks and encouragement to Massachusetts veterans participating in today’s Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. Their message emphasized “Welcome Home,” a particularly meaningful gesture for many veterans who did not receive the welcome they deserved when they returned from service. Through their words, our students had the opportunity to show gratitude, kindness, and respect to those who served our country.

The Honor Flight Network provides veterans with the opportunity to visit Washington, D.C., and the memorials honoring their service and sacrifice. We are proud of our Forestdale students for helping make this experience a little more meaningful for these veterans and reminding them that, even generations later, we remember, we appreciate, and we say, “Welcome Home.”

Fall Walk, Ride, or Roll Days Upcoming

Forestdale's BOKS Program Registration

Forestdale BOKS is a free before-school program inspired by Reebok's science-based BOKS programming. BOKS is an acronym for BUILD OUR KIDS' SUCCESS and we build that success through movement, music and play!

The program incorporates functional movements and team building activities that help kick-start our day. The fall session of Forestdale BOKS is open to students in grades 1 & 2. Forestdale BOKS takes place in the Forestdale Gymnasium. The fall session starts 10/6/26 and runs until 11/26/26.

There will be a Monday/Wednesday session and Tuesday/Thursday session. We ask that
families only register for one session, due to large numbers of registration.

Drop off is located at the same exterior doors used for parent pickup located by the gymnasium. The gym doors will open for drop off between 7:55 AM and 8:05 AM. Students will be dismissed to their classrooms or to the cafeteria for breakfast at 8:45 AM.

Your Feedback Is Requested

A brochure titled 'Bullying Prevention & Intervention: A Guide for Families' detailing school district policies, contact info, and support resources.
Our district is committed to an ongoing partnership with parents and the community to establish a positive school climate that is safe for all students.  To that end, a committee of SPS teachers, counselors, administrators, students, parents, and community members recently updated the district's Bullying Prevention & Intervention Plan. It is available at this link on our district website. Additionally, the committee developed a simple two-pager brochure that summarizes the plan. This document will be disseminated in both paper and in digital form.

Before it is finalized and approved by the Sandwich School Committee, we would like your feedback on it. If you have time to peruse the plan, please answer this simple, 6-question form to provide feedback on the plan. Thank you in advance for your feedback!
