FALL SPORTS PARENT MEETING SEPTEMBER 8 AT 6:00 PM

SMHS FALL SEASON PARENT MEETING AT 6:00 PM ON SEPTEMBER 8 IN THE SMHS AUDITORIUM.
Please join us for our Fall Sports Information Night on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 6:00 PM in the SMHS Auditorium.

During this meeting, the SMHS Athletic Department will review key policies, eligibility requirements, and program expectations for the upcoming season.

Attendance is strongly encouraged for all student-athletes and parents/guardians of fall student-athletes. 

We look forward to seeing you there and kicking off a great season!

SMHS DAILY ROTATING SCHEDULE

Photo of the 7 drop 1 daily rotating schedule. We start with DAY 7 (periods 7, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and follow with DAY 6 (periods 6, 7, 1, 2, 3, 4), DAY 5, DAY 4, DAY 3, DAY 2, and DAY 1. Each period is 51 minutes and students meet with 6 classes a day. Lunch is 20 minutes and there are 4 lunch waves. High school eats 1st lunch (10:43-11:03) and 2nd lunch (11:06-11:26), grade 7 eats 3rd lunch at 11:29-11:49 and grade 8 eats 4th lunch at 11:52-12:12. Dismissal is at 2:00 PM on M, T, TH and F. On Wednesdays, school is dismissed at 1:00 PM.

TOMORROW, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2026 is a DAY 5 SCHEDULE

  • On Tuesday, we will start with DAY 5.
  • Period 5 meets first at 7:30 AM.
  • School is dismissed at 2:00 PM on M, T, TH and F.
  • Every Wednesday, school is dismissed at 1:00 PM.
  • ALL 7th GRADERS eat 3rd lunch.
  • ALL 8th GRADERS eat 4th lunch.

School Resource Officer Jake Curtin, SPD is excited to join the SMHS community. You can find SRO Curtin interacting with students and staff whether it be when he’s walking the hallways or when he visits and participates in classes. 

SRO Curtin is also passionate about sports and looks forward to getting involved in our athletic programs. SRO Curtin will be working in collaboration with SRO Dan Halloran and our District Safety Team to help foster a safe, positive and community-focused environment for students and staff alike.

We are excited to share that starting this week, representatives from a wide variety of colleges and universities will be visiting SMHS. These visits offer a fantastic opportunity for interested juniors and seniors to connect directly with admissions counselors, learn more about specific academic programs, and ask questions about campus life.

How Your Student Can Attend:
  • Sign Up: Students must register for upcoming visits in advance through their Naviance account.
  • Get a Pass: On the morning of the scheduled visit, students should report to the Guidance Suite to collect their pass containing the meeting location.

We encourage all upperclassmen to explore the schedule in Naviance and take advantage of these valuable sessions as they plan for post-secondary education.

The SMHS Library is open from 2:15 PM - 3:15 PM every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
The SMHS library is open after school from 2:15 PM - 3:15 PM every M, T, TH and F. The library is a great place to study and complete homework while waiting for a ride or an extracurricular activity to start.

Please note that on Wednesdays, due to staff Professional Development in the library, students waiting for rides or activities to begin can go to the cafeteria.
 

JOIN US FOR THE SMHS OPEN HOUSE!

Please join us for the SMHS Open House on September 10 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Follow your student's schedule and meet their teachers.
Please join us on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM for our annual SMHS OPEN HOUSE!

Follow your student's schedule! The Open House schedule begins at 5:00 PM in Period 1 and continues with 10 minute visits in each period, ending in Period 7. It is helpful to have your student's schedule in hand. Schedules will also be available in the main lobby on September 10.

Open House is a great opportunity to meet your student's teachers and hear about the exciting school year ahead!
 

Class of 2027 Field Trip Reminder

We are excited to kick off the school year with our first Senior Class field trip to Town Neck Beach and Camp Burgess! This annual experience is a wonderful opportunity for the Class of 2027 to connect, have fun, and celebrate the start of their senior year together.

Field Trip Details
🏖️ Destination: Town Neck Beach & Camp Burgess
📅 Date: Friday, September 11, 2026
⏰ Time: 8:00 AM–1:30 PM
📸 Itinerary: We will begin at Town Neck Beach for our official “Class of 2027” photo, then head to Camp Burgess for a day of fun and activities.
🚌 Transportation: School bus
🍕 Lunch: Pizza and salad will be provided

📝 Permission slips: Please return the attached permission slip to the SMHS Main Office by September 8, as the field trip date is quickly approaching. Hard copies of the permission slip are also available in the Main Office.

The Junior Class made a big move by taking full advantage of the double points—but the race for the Top 3 is still WIDE OPEN! Every class has a shot at the prizes. The race will end Friday, October 2, 2026!

Here’s what’s at stake:
1st Place: $1,000 for your class budget
2nd Place: $750
3rd Place: $500

And teachers, there’s something in it for you, too! If we reach at least 50% participation, at least TWO teachers will win $100 CASH prizes!
