This Week on the Ridge

This week, several Oak Ridge staff and students proudly participated in the Deeper Learning Expo, which highlighted meaningful learning experiences taking place across the district both inside and beyond the classroom. It was wonderful to see students showcasing their creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and hard work through authentic projects and presentations. Congratulations to all of the students and teachers involved for representing Oak Ridge so well and for sharing such inspiring work with Sandwich staff and community.

Students in the Handrahan/ Wesp/ Ruggiere classrooms also had an exciting opportunity to visit the Sandwich Public Library to barcode the books they created. This authentic publishing experience was a meaningful celebration of their hard work and creativity as authors. Be sure to visit the library to check out one or more of their student-created books!

The 6B team turned their research for an argumentative writing project into creative muti-media presentations. Families and students came to view the presentations on Friday morning. Topics ranged from AI, to Endangered Animals, to four day work weeks... and beyond. See photos below from this great event.

We also celebrated a successful Oak Ridge Science Fair this week! Students demonstrated curiosity, problem-solving, and scientific thinking through a variety of impressive projects and experiments. A huge thank you to Mrs. Chrisitne Skirvan for organizing such a fantastic event. Please see the Science Fair results below:
