Grade 10 students will be participating in MCAS ELA testing on Tuesday, March 24 and Wednesday, March 25.
Testing will begin promptly at 7:30 AM. Strong attendance and punctuality are essential to ensure students are able to complete the assessment without disruption.
Students must complete the test on their school-issued Chromebook, so please be sure devices are fully charged each day.
We also encourage students to start the day with a good breakfast. Breakfast is available free of charge daily in the cafeteria, and a grab-and-go breakfast kiosk is also available on the 2nd floor lobby.
Thank you for your continued support in helping our students be prepared and ready to do their best!

We would like to thank our parents and guardians for adapting so smoothly to the new morning drop-off procedure. Families who have been entering from Route 6A through the main driveway and proceeding to the back cafeteria entrance have helped ensure a more efficient arrival for our students.
As a reminder, school begins promptly at 7:30 AM. Students arriving at or after 7:30 AM must enter through the main entrance at the front of the school.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain a safe and orderly start to the school day.

Creativity is on full display at SMHS as we celebrate our Artists of the Quarter!
High School honoree Senja Kravitz has been busy pushing her creativity to new heights, taking both Pottery I and II this year. From a detailed lidded cactus container to an eye-catching octopus mug, her work continues to stand out.
Middle School honoree Maxine Wahler has made the most of her time in general art, embracing every project along the way. She values the balance of structure and creative freedom the class provides, allowing her to grow as an artist while still expressing her own style.
Congratulations to Senja and Maxine, our talented artists of the quarter! Be sure to check out their artwork the next time you are in the SMHS lobby!

Eighth grade Latin students explored the engineering behind ancient Roman roads, learning how they were constructed and why many have lasted for over 2,000 years.
After researching these techniques, students applied their knowledge by building their own models of Roman roads or mapping the extensive Roman road system. The project challenged students to compare their own engineering skills to those of the Ancient Romans.
To put their designs to the test, student models were subjected to earthquake and flooding simulations to see if they could withstand the same forces that Roman roads have endured for centuries.
This creative design project brought history to life and highlighted the lasting impact of Roman innovation, showing students the value of learning from the past.

SMHS students created a welcoming atmosphere for families during Parent-Teacher Conferences by organizing student-led fundraisers.
Members of the Class of 2027 hosted a bake sale, offering a variety of homemade treats to visitors as they arrived. At the same time, students also sold handmade bracelets to support Best Buddies, giving attendees another way to contribute to a meaningful cause.
Thank you to all of our families who attended Parent-Teacher Conferences and special thanks to our students who volunteered their time and energy to welcome families to SMHS.

Playbook Initiative leaders Shreya Shukla and Peter Milburn and a group of seventh grade Playbook Initiative members traveled to Old Rochester Junior High School to participate in a collaborative workshop.
During the workshop, students from both schools discussed real-world scenarios centered on bias, discrimination and what it means to be an upstander. Together, students practiced the pro-social skills needed to respond thoughtfully in everyday situations. This was SMHS's second collaborative workshop with Old Rochester students.
Thank you to Old Rochester Junior High School for hosting and supporting this meaningful experience.

Dear SMHS Families,
Students are currently in the process of selecting courses for next year. Through individual and small group meetings with school counselors, students are exploring their interests, considering future goals, and learning about the wide range of course offerings available.
We encourage you to partner with us in this process. Meeting with your child’s counselor can help ensure that course selections are thoughtful, personalized, and aligned with your child’s strengths, interests, and aspirations. Our goal is to build a schedule for each student that supports both their academic growth and personal development.
Please consider reaching out to schedule a conversation. We value your input and look forward to working collaboratively to design a program that best supports your child’s success.
Please contact our Guidance Department administrative assistant, Melissa Murphy, at (508) 888-4900 or mmurphy@sandwich.k12.ma.us to schedule an appointment with your child's counselor.

- Cheerios (used for baby animals)
- Wet dog and cat food
- Paper towels
Donation boxes will be located outside the main office, and we will be collecting items through April 3.
