Becca Stock
Reading Specialist

I have three sons who attend Forestdale School. Naturally, I LOVE reading and barely watch TV, unless one of my kids happen to be watching Bluey.

I love seeing the success and smiles my students have after making progress with their reading. Witnessing their happiness is my greatest joy!

Spotlight on Specials

“Exploring the 7Cs” Classroom Poster

A classroom poster titled “Exploring the 7Cs.” The design features a large teal and sandy-colored wave curling around the text “7Cs.” At the top, the word “EXPLORING” appears in large teal letters, with “THE” to the right of the wave.

In the upper right corner is a small portrait photo of Ms. Notaro standing outdoors in front of a scenic mountain landscape. She has dark hair with bangs and is wearing a light-colored sweatshirt. Her name, “MS. NOTARO,” appears in bold blue text next to the photo.

On the left side, a section titled “PROJECTS” explains that the classroom focuses primarily on project-based learning. It lists examples:

Building Super You action figures for grade 3

Character Shield for grade 4

Character Trees for grade 5

Island Survival Communication activity for Grade 6

On the right side, a section titled “OUR MISSION” explains the 7Cs: Creativity, Curiosity, Community, Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Character. The text describes the classroom as an open and comfortable space where students learn about themselves, work together, and develop social skills.

At the bottom are three logos:

The Oak Ridge School logo: A circular blue emblem with a compass rose design in the center and the words “Oak Ridge School” around the border.

A globe and heart icon: A green globe with three simplified human figures holding hands in front of it and a pink heart above them, representing community and connection.

An Oak Ridge Specialists logo: A circular blue and white logo with illustrated academic-related icons (such as books, tools, or symbols) arranged inside.
“Project Photos” Page

A page titled “PROJECT PHOTOS” in large teal letters with a hand-drawn underline beneath the title.

Four student project examples are displayed in a grid:

Top left: A worksheet titled “Kindness” featuring a colorful handmade “Super You” action figure attached to the page. The figure is made from craft materials and has rainbow-colored wings. Speech bubbles on the page describe traits such as being kind and including others.

Top right: Another “Super You” action figure project. The figure is red and blue with drawn facial features and is attached to a worksheet listing character traits such as respectful, work hard, be smart, and think smart. The student name appears at the top.

Bottom left: A “My Character Shield” worksheet. The shield is outlined in purple and divided into sections listing traits such as intelligent, creative, patient, flexible, brave, easygoing, and practicing being more patient. The student’s name, “Addy,” appears on a banner at the bottom of the shield.

Bottom right: Another “My Character Shield” worksheet with a green and orange border. The shield sections include statements such as being proud of character traits, loving drawing and art, caring deeply about others, and wanting to accept what others say. The name “Declan S.” appears on a banner at the bottom.

Recyclable Donations Needed:
We need cereal boxes, magazines, and colorful junk mail to help students create a recycled trout mural in the new Trout Room off the library.
As students nurture trout for spring release, this eco-friendly project teachers kindness to nature and sparks imagination. Clean donations are greatly appreciated and help bring this hands-on learning to life.
Thank you,
Mrs. Skirvan
