This Week on the Ridge

It was a short but kindness-filled week here at Oak Ridge! We proudly celebrated Kindness Week, culminating in our Kindness Tunnel on Friday. As students arrived at school, they were greeted by smiles, waves, and kind words from students at SMHS and members of our school community. The goal was to create an uplifting, welcoming start to the day—one that reflects the district's ongoing commitment to compassion and connection.

Throughout the week, several students also had the opportunity to make positive phone calls home (pictured below). At the end of each month, teachers can nominate students to participate, and those students get to call home from the assistant principal’s office to share a kind message written by their teacher—a moment that is always special for students and families alike.

Bravo to all of our musicians and singers, under the leadership of Ms. Nedder and Mr. Healy, for Thursday’s wonderful concert! Their hard work and talent truly shined.

Reminders & Updates

Coffee with the Administration

The Oak Ridge Administration will be hosting a small "Coffee with the Administration" gathering on Thursday, February 12 @ 9:00 AM. Feel free to join us for coffee, donuts, and conversation. We do ask that you RSVP by emailing adunphy@sandwich.k12.ma.us by the end of the day on February 11.

Family Compact

We are reaching out to share two key documents that underscore our ongoing commitment to student success: the Sandwich Public Schools Family Engagement Policy and the Oak Ridge School Family/Guardian Compact. Together, these documents emphasize the vital partnership between families and the school in supporting student learning and development.

We have also included a short survey related to general education interventions at Oak Ridge. Your input is greatly appreciated and will help inform our efforts as we continue to enhance supports for all students. We kindly ask that you take a few moments to complete the survey, as your perspective is important to our work.

Thank you for your continued collaboration and support. We value our partnership with families and appreciate the opportunity to work together to promote positive outcomes for our students.

My degree is in Arts Education and I am an avid lover of all things artsy! Disney is my favorite place in the whole world! My teachers inspired me to become a teacher and make a difference in others' lives!

I love teaching at Oak Ridge because it is like one big family! The students surprise me everyday with their determination, creativity, and intelligence! The staff welcomed me right in as a student teacher and again as a first year teacher! This is the best place to work anyone could ask for!

Spotlight on Specials

In music at Oak Ridge with Ms. Nedder, we have been focusing on music and movement! 3rd grade has been learning various folk songs and dances, and 4th grade has been hard at work learning to play the recorder and earning their black belts in recorder karate! 5th grade is learning how to play the ukulele, and 6th grade is composing their own cinematic music.
