Many, many thanks to all who helped support the PTA's fun run. Classes truly enjoyed earning their rewards - crazy hair, pj day, crafts in the classroom, and even a dance party during lunch time in the cafeteria! The day of the fun run couldn't have had better weather- sunny, warm(ish) and perfect for spectators and runners alike.

CheeNulka Pocknett visit

Through a generous PTA funded grant, Forestdale enjoyed the return of CheeNulka Pocknett, a local member of the Wampanoag tribe. The second grade students remembered information from CheeNulka's last visit, answering questions about the 3 Sisters, and the turtle shell. He made lots of great connections with the students, sharing Wampanoag history and beliefs and tying it to something pertinent and relatable to our young students. We are so lucky to have had this wonderful resource visit our school and help educate both students and staff here at Forestdale.
First grade students listened to CheeNulka's presentation outside, where he discussed the geese that were in the field with them.

Practicing the Turkey Trot race route

All students in Phys Ed classes will have a practice run/walk through the Turkey Trot/Jingle Bell Jog/Bunny Hop race route. As students rotate into PE, they too will have a chance to practice the race route. The pictures below show students in PE classes on Friday, October 17, 2025.

Caught Reading at Forestdale

Students are independently reading books - on the rug, at a desk and in rocking chairs.

Math Stations/Centers

Students in the foreground worked on a popsicle stick math puzzle together. In the background, students are working together to solve math challenges in the mini solo cups.

Hands on Math Centers

Teachers engage students in partner or independent hands on math activities in a variety of ways. In the pictures above two girls are working on solving the math problems that are hidden inside the cups. Once solved, the girls then stack the cups to create a tower together. In the second picture above, two girls worked together to solve the math puzzle on the other side of the popsicle sticks. If the puzzle was solved correctly, once the sticks get flipped over, they create a picture (self correcting math activity).

The photos below show students in Kindergarten working on math centers. The two boys are "popping" a number on the dice popper and then pushing that number of bubbles on the fidget toy. The student below is working independently to solve the problems labeled on the outside of the cups. The answers are placed inside - for the student to self correct. Once they have all been solved correctly, the student can then build a structure with the stacking cups.

Fundraising Reward - Dance Party!

Wow! All the fundraising efforts of staff, students and family members are really "paying" off. As a reward for hitting the latest target goal, the entire school got to have a dance party in the cafeteria. Throughout the lunch times, students got a break from eating and jammed away in the MPR to some rocking tunes. The kids loved this unusual break in the routine and really appreciated the fun reward that PTA gave them for their earnings.

Kindergarten reading with Dogs

Every month, two kindergarten classes get visited by Comfort dogs from Hearts & Paws. This month, students in Mrs. Kent's and Ms. Dimmick's classes read stories to the visiting pooches.

Halloween Parade at Forestdale

Friday will be our annual Halloween Parade. Students may dress in costumes, without masks or props. We will plan for the parade to be outside in the bus loop weather permitting starting at 9:25 am. Families will be invited to watch from the sidewalk. If the weather doesn't cooperate, the parade will be moved indoors. If moved indoors, families are not able to attend. A final decision on the parade location will be made on Thursday, October 30th.
